The Textured Experience

The Texture Experience: A Black Hair Care Experience is an interactive educational and cultural event hosted by the Black Student Union in collaboration with the African Student Association. The event will feature a Black hair care Kahoot, where participants can test their knowledge and learn about common hair care myths, textured hair, and proper hair care practices. Attendees will then participate in a DIY hair oil workshop, creating personalized oil blends, followed by a “Build Your Own Hair Care Routine” activity where they can select hair care products and accessories to take home, including shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, detangling brushes, bonnets, durags, and satin pillowcases. Through hands-on activities, education, and community engagement, this event aims to celebrate Black hair, promote self-care, and create an inclusive space for students to learn, connect, and appreciate the diversity of Black hair and culture.
