On the 16th of January, the Doctoral Guild hosted its first PhD Lunch Talk at SCI. This event, which brought together 20 doctoral students, kicked off a monthly series seeking to foster community building and professional development among PhD students.
Two students from the Computer Science department, Bhiman Kumar Baghel and Arushi Rai, were featured as the series' first speakers.
Bhiman, a second-year PhD student, presented his research on model editing in large language models. His talk presented the methodology and findings of his work, while also highlighting the challenges he faced.
Arushi, a fourth-year PhD student, shared her experience applying to summer internships and provided practical advice to students preparing for coding and technical interviews. She concluded by reflecting on her time as an intern at Meta.
The presentations were followed by students connecting and sharing ideas over lunch. The Doctoral Guild plans to host these monthly lunch talks throughout the semester, providing the opportunity for students to share their work, receive feedback, and catch up with one another.
