Join us for a hybrid three-part summer book discussion on Robin Wall Kimmerer's Braiding Sweetgrass. In preparation for the author's visit to Pitt-Bradford in March 2025, we hope this book discussion will ignite, inspire, and encourage the campus and community to engage with Kimmerer's topics.

The book discussions will occur in the Hanley Library, Osborne Room on the second floor and online through Zoom. Please register to receive the Zoom link.

We hope this book discussion series will support faculty interest in incorporating it into classes and provide an opportunity for the campus and community to learn more about subjects, including Indigenous cultures, Native arts and crafts, storytelling, language, botany, and the craft of writing. If you cannot participate in the summer book discussion, we encourage you to join us for upcoming events in fall 2024 and spring 2025, including talks, panels, films, arts and crafts, and hands-on learning experiences.

The book discussion series will be divided into three sessions. Join us for one, two, or all three sessions!

June 26, Reading 1: Planting Sweetgrass and Tending Sweetgrass
July 17, Reading 2: Picking Sweetgrass and Braiding Sweetgrass through "Burning Cascade Head"
August 14, Reading 3: The rest of Braiding Sweetgrass and Burning Sweetgrass
