About Us
SAVE is a nationwide organization with youth-led branches in schools at all levels. It is an initiative that came out of the Sandy Hook Promise, which is an organization founded by families who lost loved ones to the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012. The Promise aims to take the tragedy and make it a transformation. SAVE encourages young people to initiate keeping homes, schools, and communities safe by employing its strategies of educating, empowering, encouraging, and engaging. The goal is to honor all victims of gun violence by empowering people to “know the signs” of violence and prevent it before it happens. SAVE creates a safe and welcoming space for all people to promote kindness and encourage a see something, say something mentality. We teach people of all ages to recognize, intervene, and get help for people who may be socially isolated and/or at risk of causing harm through community involvement and personal connection.
