Mission
The African Students Organization is a cultural student organization of the University of Pittsburgh whose main purpose is to promote and create cultural awareness on Pitt's campus regarding different African cultures and foster an effective networking and support network for students. We do this by holding bi-weekly General Body Meetings (GBMs) in the Union on various topics, as well as hosting different events throughout the semester. Though this club's main focus is to educate about Africa and how it can relate to the Diaspora, it is open to all Pitt students to participate!

Welcome to the Anime Club! Our organization meets to watch and discuss Japanese animation and the pop culture of Japan. At the beginning of a semester we collectively vote on what shows to watch for the rest of the semester based on club members suggestions, and we make sure to hold time after for opinions on episodes, as well as activities for everyone to participate in. We also regularly plan trips to local Pittsburgh Japanese culture and anime conventions including: Tekko, Sangawa Project, Scotty Con, and even anime-related music events across Pittsburgh. We welcome new members to come in and be themselves, we're a friendly group!

Dhirana is the University of Pittsburgh's annual Indian classical dance competition. It is a nonprofit organization and all proceeds of the competition go to the Birmingham Free Clinic of Pittsburgh, which provides free medical care for Pittsburgh's underserved population. Students at the University of Pittsburgh began the tradition of hosting a national, intercollegiate competition when Nrityamala (Pitt's Indian classical dance team) placed first at Laasya 2011. As champions, the team won the honor of hosting Laasya 2012 on their campus. With strong support and attendance from the Pittsburgh community and enthusiastic involvement from Pitt students, Laasya 2012 was a resounding success. Unhappy to see the traveling competition leave its city, Nrityamala and students at the University of Pittsburgh created Dhirana to foster Indian classical dance interest in their community. This competition provides collegiate classical dance teams with a platform to showcase their talents during an unforgettable weekend experience. We are so excited for our fourteenth anniversary show, Dhirana 2026!

The German Club at the University of Pittsburgh is a student-run club that sponsors many German-themed activities throughout the course of the school year. The main activity of the German club is Stammtisch, or conversation table. This is a great opportunity for German students and non-German students alike to come together talk about German-related topics in German or English. We welcome all levels of German level fluencies from beginners to native speakers.

It is our mission to foster a better understanding of the German language and the cultures of German-speaking countries (Austrian, Swiss, Liechtenstein, and German). Our vision is to supplement the academic endeavors of students interested in German culture and language through extracurricular activities and to promote a better understanding and appreciation of German culture, as well as working with other language clubs to promote general understanding and respect of cultures.

Kya Baat Hai! is a casual conversation group where students can speak and practice Hindi and Urdu with fellow students. You can engage and learn the language in a different environment without judgment. All levels of Hindi and Urdu speakers are welcome to come and make new friends. Meetings will range from simply conversing with other members to discussing and debating various issues, especially those affecting South Asia, to larger social and advocacy events. Middle Eastern and North African Student Association serves to create a community for students of MENA descent on Pitt's campus. It facilitates discussion of issues that Middle Eastern and North African students face. Additionally, it celebrates all different Middle Eastern and North African cultures in efforts to educate about our diverse people our various cultures. MENASA matters pertain to the ethnicity and culture of Middle Eastern and North African students and accepts all students regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, and other inclinations.
- MENASA holds general body meetings in which we celebrate our cultures and discuss issues relevant to being someone of Middle Eastern/North African ancestry and further more.
- MENASA general body meetings serve as a way to learn about specific MENA countries and cultures within those countries through thematic presentations, games, and open discussions.
- MENASA hosts social gatherings for members to allow Middle Eastern and North African students to experience different aspects of MENA culture and to facilitate the sense of community that it intends to create.
- MENASA head fundraisers for causes and charities pertinent to the MENA region as well as people of MENA ancestry in and outside of the region.
- MENASA hosts speakers from in and out of the university to educate, celebrate, and provide insight both for members as well as the general student body population at the University of Pittsburgh.

A group of students interested in learning more about Slovak culture, language, and history. We are comprised of some students of Slovak and Czech cultures heritage, but all are welcome! Both semesters have separate events which we help plan activities for, in addition to other club bonding events, crafts, activities, and food.

In the fall semester we sponsor activities at the Slovak Heritage Festival, and in the Spring semester we traditionally assist with the Kukucka Lecture and any activities following the event. We regularly meet two times a month or every other week.

Steel City Sapna is in essence a large-scale philanthropy event to raise money towards a charity chosen at the beginning of the academic year. We will donate all non operational proceeds (ie ticket sales from the event and fundraisers) to a charity of our choosing. The charity will be chosen at the beginning of each semester.

Ya’baso dances to contemporary African music, as well as African-inspired music, and strives to expose the university, as well as Pittsburgh, to African culture through rhythm and dance. Team members represent Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Mali, Sierra Leone, Benin, Cameroon, Haiti, Jamaica, and the United States of America. Although we represent numerous African countries, we openly welcome new members from any part of the world. Diversity and representation are large aspects of our organization and we hope to continue to expand in this way.
