Today, more than ever, it is important to prioritize our own health and safety. As part of this Campus Rec initiative, we are offering “Self-Defense 101” to help students build self-defense skills and self-confidence. This class focuses on a non-violent approach to self-defense class by providing a safe and inclusive environment to practice and learn applicable skills of awareness, safety, and self-protection. It is crucial to learn when not to fight, how to safely avoid conflict, and how to protect yourself when necessary. All attending are instructed and supported through light physical training for the development of fitness and mental capabilities including situational safety and basic defensive fighting skills. Tech Ambassadors are preparing students for the Career Fair by providing free headshots and Linkedin consulting/education. Students will be provided educational material on how to fully utilize their Pitt Tuition-covered benefits for Linkedin and how to use it to help them prepare for the career fair. Students will also be offered an opportunity to get a free headshot from Tech Ambassadors. This event is similar to flexibility for a drop in such as a service desk but has more of a consulting and lecture component to it.

Stressed AF is a relatable approach to mental health. Your physical and mental health is directly tied to your stress levels. Stressed AF teaches you how they are connected and how you can learn to live happily with stress. Presented by someone that also dislikes “lectures.” Since high levels or continuous stress can impact both a student’s mental and physical health. Their quality of life depends on how they are able to manage the stress they encounter. Learn to take control of what you can so you can be the most effective version of yourself. Stressed AF covers anxiety, depression, suicide prevention and offers realistic tools to take ownership of what they can change in their lives.

The Resident Student Association (RSA) functions as the governing student body for our residence halls. RSA is the second largest student organization on campus. Each student living in a residence hall is already a member of RSA. Residence hall students are welcome to further their commitment to our community as Hall Council members. Beyond serving as the direct liaison between the residents of our halls and University administration, RSA plans amazing events throughout the year, and offers philanthropic opportunities.
