About Us
To inspire girls to be strong, smart, by empowering them to imagine broader futures through a curriculum grounded in healthy living, social media literacy, STEM, self-defense, and more delivered by college women mentors who are guided by professional women. Girls Inc. of Greater Pittsburgh strives to support positive mentoring relationships between college women and pre-adolescent students in underserved local communities with the vision that every mentee realizes their inner strengths to dream and do. Activities We host after school mentoring programs at elementary and middle school programming around the city of Pittsburgh. Using lesson plans made by the national Girls Inc. office, we emphasize the importance of growth and self-confidence through relationship-building activities and games, and journal writing. Outside of mentoring, we have weekly meetings with members of the organization to continue developing bonds with one another and discussing ideas. We also host fundraising events at local restaurants to help fund some of our activities and we put on social events for our members to get to know each other better.
