Academic Coaching and Tutoring Staff

Hello! I’m Dr. Adina Frantescu, and I’m excited to be one of the Academic Coaches at the Bradford Campus! My own journey as a student has taken me across several countries, so I know firsthand that college can be both exciting and challenging, especially when you’re navigating a new environment. I’m originally from Romania, where I studied at the University of Bucharest. During my undergraduate years, I was fortunate to receive an ERASMUS Scholarship that allowed me to study at the University of Burgundy in Dijon, France. Later, I moved to the United States to begin my PhD studies at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. Those experiences taught me that being a student is about much more than textbooks and exams, it’s also about adapting, asking for help, discovering who you are, and finding your place.

And if you’re wondering what I studied… well, things got pretty old! I’m a paleontologist by trade, and my research focuses on fossil crabs that are about 55 million years old from South Carolina, but the oldest fossil I’ve ever worked with came from Morocco and is an incredible 460 million years old! So, if you ever need someone who can talk about surviving college or surviving 460-million-year-old fossils, I’m your person. 😊When I’m not coaching students or working with fossils, you’ll usually find me reading. I’ll happily spend every free minute I have with a good book. I’m also a huge animal lover. My household includes two very spoiled cats, a fish tank, chickens, and more than 40,000 honeybees!
