  • Blue and Gold Society - How to Apply

    Eligibility

    CONFIRM YOU MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Required)

    • Be in good academic standing per the Student Code of Conduct
    • Meet the minimum GPA requirement of 2.5
    • Be a registered member of the Pitt Alumni Student Network (PASN)
      • You can register here
    • Upload a 1-page resume

    Requirements

    ATTEND AN INFORMATION SESSION (Required)

    • Register for an Information Session
    • Every applicant must attend at least one of the following information sessions:
      • Tuesday, September 23rd (WPU 538)Wednesday, October 1st (WPU 538)
      • Wednesday, October 1st (WPU 538)
      • Thursday, October 9th (WPU 538)
      • Tuesday, October 14th (WPU 527)Tuesday, October 21st (VIRTUAL, Zoom at 8pm)
      • Tuesday, October 21st (VIRTUAL, Zoom at 8pm)

    All information sessions will be held in WPU from 9:30-10:30pm, besides the virtual session.

    VOLUNTEER AT A HOMECOMING EVENT (Required)

    Homecoming week runs September 20-27. Sign up for an complete at least one shift:

    • Spirit Pop-ups - shifts throughout the week
    • Paint the Town - shifts throughout the week
    • Cathedral Palooza - Sunday, September 27

    FOLLOW BLUE AND GOLD SOCIETY ON TIKTOK AND INSTAGRAM (Required)

    • stay up to date on announcements, event details, and reminders throughout the process.

    Optional (but recommended)

    ATTEND RECRUITMENT WEEK

    • Monday, September 28th: Icees & IcebreakersWednesday
    • September 30th: Attend I LOVE PITT Day
    • Thursday, October 1st: Thank you Thursday
    • Friday, October 2nd: Meet the BGS
    • Saturday, October 3rd: Lawn Games

    We highly encourage you to attend these events to get to know our organization and the BGS better.

  • Application Details

    Essays

    Two long essays (250 words or less each):

    • What draws you to the Blue and Gold Society, and what does it mean to you to serve as a student ambassador bridging students and alumni? Be specific about what you hope to contribute as a member.
    • Describe a time you gave back to a community you're part of. What did you do, and what did it mean to you?

    One short essay (150 words or less):

    • BGS is a time-intensive organization with consistent commitments including 7am Wednesday morning meetings, volunteer events, and other responsibilities. What does your current schedule look like, and what in your life so far tells you that you're someone who can follow through when things get demanding?
