About Us

The CGS Student Government Council (CGSSG) was first recognized as the CGSSG Cabinet in the early 1970s by a group of evening students under the leadership of Hank Berns. The mission statement of CGSSG is to support non-traditional and adult students’ pursuit of success at the University of Pittsburgh.

Today, the College of General Studies Student Government (CGSSG) consists of an elected group of students representing all CGS students, regardless of where and when they take their classes. It provides an array of services and programs to enhance student life on campus.
