Society of Astronautics and Rocketry

About Us

We design, build, and launch high-powered rockets. Every year we compete in the International Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC), hosted by the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association (ESRA) — the largest intercollegiate rocketry competition in the world. This season we're moving up to the 30K SRAD Solids category, which means designing our own solid rocket motor and flying it to 30,000 feet.

The team is made up of students from a wide range of engineering disciplines, organized into four subteams:

Propulsion — motor design, propellant, and static fire testing

Avionics — flight computers, onboard electronics, and firmware

Payload — experimental payloads and science demonstrations

Aerostructures — airframe, recovery, and aerodynamics

No experience necessary. Members learn rocket design, construction, electronics, and business relations by working on hardware that actually flies. We aim to give students real rocket engineering experience to help prepare them for future success in the aerospace and rocketry fields.
